In a town on the periphery of Johannesburg, business has shifted from the old town center to new nodes along main arterials. This project called for ‘façade architecture’ to update the façade of an existing house along a main road, into a mixed use building comprising a beauty salon, hairdresser, tea garden and some small offices.
The new façade makes use of face brick and stone screening elements tied together by means of steel elements that create screens and or overhangs. Together the new elements create a harmonious scheme resulting in a modern, and inviting mixed use building.
